Join Us for Our Upcoming Workshop:

Fashion: History and Race

Race Literacy Connections proudly invites you to our Fashion: History and Race workshop on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00-8:30 PM via Zoom.

In this workshop, participants will be able to critically examine fashion, considering how historical and cultural influences inform our choices of what we wear. Dr. Árpád von Klimó will facilitate an interactive workshop on the various ways historical, imperial, and colonial influences manifest in fashion and how power is intrinsic in the societal norms codified in clothing. Participants will probe codes that include or exclude- exploring how race, racism, and gender, as well as standards of beauty and body commentary, are factors in these codes. Through historical and visual examples, attendees will engage the connection between racism and fashion.

Register for the workshop here.
