Exciting things are happening in our College and Career Program!

In November, six College and Career students participated in a college preparation retreat weekend, complete with workshops and college tours.

On Friday night, the students arrived at the Little Lights Retreat House and enjoyed a delicious dinner and Bible study provided by volunteers from Grace Covenant Church.

Little Lights students then attended presentations led by James and Cierra, two of the key staff members for the College and Career Program, about Coppin State University and Morgan State University, two Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Maryland. They also learned about the college tour process.

After a fun night of card games and movies, the students spent Saturday morning touring Coppin State University and Morgan State University. The students enjoyed the experience of being on a college campus and asking questions about academics, college life, and extracurriculars.

While students enjoyed touring both institutions, they had the special privilege of hearing from Markeith, a College and Career Student, who is studying fine arts at Morgan State University.

We hope that this college preparation retreat weekend is the first of many, as more and more students with big dreams and bright futures join the College and Career Program!

Little Lights is grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside high school students as they gain the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate their postsecondary endeavors – and we can’t do this work without you!
