Fun fact(s) about you: I love beaches, cookouts, laughing, music, and hanging out with family and friends, especially my nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

How does your faith connect to the work you are doing at Little Lights?: One of my aims in life and ministry is to live out Colossians 3:12: Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

I don’t believe there’s any other way to function in ministry. Little Lights’ core values mirror this verse, and working at Little Lights allows me to live out this verse as we serve youth, families, and communities in DC.

Fun fact(s) about you: Volleyball was life for a while and now I’m getting into rock climbing!

How does your faith connect to the work you are doing at Little Lights?: I was raised as a Christian, and my father is a Pastor. However, the first time I really really felt God’s love wasn’t until I was 22. I went through struggles in life and even questioning God. However, it was when I was the furthest from God that He opened my eyes to the greatness and abundance of His love. He was always there every step of the way.

From the moment I felt His love, God pulled me towards helping my younger brothers and sisters. To help them with basic Christian foundations even if they don’t enjoy it or fully understand it. Little Lights was and is doing exactly just that for the students in DC areas and I jumped in the first chance I got!

I think for me, I am in a season of learning compassion. Not just for those who are weak but also for those whom I may not see eye to eye with. It can be frustrating but God’s Love and strength constantly overwhelms my weaknesses.

Fun fact about you: I’ve been to over 11 countries! The beach is my happy-peaceful place. My goal is to be on somebody’s beach for every birthday 🙂

How does your faith connect to the work you’re doing at Little Lights?: Working here challenges me to put love into action! My faith calls me to love my neighbor as myself. These students are my neighbors and they NEED love in order to grow into the best of who they were created to be. Every day at Little Lights is an opportunity to actualize this truth.
